Light Up Your Business: Matariki 2026
A Hikurangi Business Initiative
As part of this year’s Matariki celebrations, Hikurangi businesses are invited to take part in our Light Up Your Business competition, a fun, creative way to brighten the village and showcase the strength of our local business community.
This initiative sits alongside the wider Light Up Hikurangi ’26 event, and helps bring extra colour, energy and pride to the village during the Matariki period.
How It Works
Businesses are encouraged to decorate their shopfronts, windows or workspaces with Matariki‑inspired lights and displays. Your interpretation is completely up to you, stars, stories, whānau, reflection, kai, or anything that speaks to the season.

Judging includes community voting poll online in the lead up to Matariki + a local panel

Winner announced after the event
Whether you’re on the main street, working from a workshop, or running a home‑based business, this is a great way to get involved and help make the village shine.
Prize Package
The winning business will receive a promotional package from the Hikurangi Business Association, valued at over $500.00 worth including:
