Hikurangi Bowling Club

Established in 1915, the Hikurangi Bowling Club offers quality facilities for bowlers of all levels, from beginners through to seasoned players. The club sits on land originally donated by the Carter whānau and has a long, proud history in the community.

The club began as a men’s bowling club, with a women’s club forming in 1949 and renting the premises during the week. The clubrooms were built in 1972, and the first artificial green was laid in 1989. The current green was installed in 2005. In 1988 the men’s and women’s clubs amalgamated to form the club as it operates today.

Hikurangi Bowling Club continues to run as a freehold facility with outstanding amenities. It regularly hosts community events, corporate functions, and centre competitions.

Twilight Bowls
Twilight bowls are held on Friday evenings from 5.30pm during the summer months (starting October).
Cost: $5 per person each week.

Membership
Membership is open to full playing members, casual players, and social members. You’re never too young, or too old, to give bowls a go.

Hikurangi 1000 Club
The Hikurangi 1000 Club is a simple way to support the upkeep of our high‑quality green. For a small $10 contribution, you’ll be part of the wider Hikurangi Bowling Club whānau, whether you’re nearby or living further afield.

Members enjoy complimentary social roll‑ups whenever they’re visiting Northland, along with a warm Hikurangi welcome every time they pop in.
