Akerama Marae

Naumai, haere mai, piki mai, kake mai.

Akerama Marae sits just outside the settlement of Tōwai, north of Whangārei, on Haile Road. The marae belongs to Ngāti Hau, a hapū of Ngāpuhi. The wharenui is Huiarau, and the second whare is Ruapekapeka, carrying the name of the historic fighting pā south of Kawakawa.

Akerama Marae also runs a native seed nursery that has been operating for 14 years, supporting local planting projects and wider environmental mahi across the rohe.
